Job Summary:

Are you an experienced welder who is interested in sharing your knowledge and skills with others? If so, then Kalamazoo Valley Community College may have the ideal opportunity for you.

KVCC is seeking an instructor for our Fall 2019 WELD 182 course. This course is designed to develop the entry level job skills required for a welder using the Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) process. It will include skill training in this welding process to produce all position fillet and groove welds on steel. Students will receive classroom and hands-on training in selection of filler metals, equipment selection and set-up, metals identification, welding procedures, thermal cutting, AWS testing procedures, machine troubleshooting, and MIG welding terminology.


Minimum Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree, Journeyman’s status, or a minimum of two years continuous work experience using the GMAW (MIG) welding process is required.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Welding lab machinery / operational safety oriented.
  • Excellent hands on welding skills.
  • Excellent communication, classroom / group delivery skills.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

Teaching experience at the college-level is preferred.


Physical Demands:

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to stand for extended periods of time (six hours or more).


Work Hours:
Mondays, 7:00pm - 10:10pm and Wednesdays 7:00pm - 10:10pm
