Vice President, Produce Sales (Vegetables)

Purpose of Position:

This senior level position will be responsible for growing the profitably of the Del Monte and Mann Packing's business in California. This role will also be accountable for driving sales, vegetables grower relationships, new product development & management and continue to add value to this segment of the organization.


  • Develop and implement a sales "tool box" to provide training, sales presentation templates and reports fostering the success of the sales organization.
  • Prepare and present category and account specific presentations, working with the marketing team to secure new customer business, while building current customer volume.
  • Maximize produce sales in all categories via Sales Team, including Distribution Centers, and provide support to other product groups as directed.
  • Profitably build Del Monte’s business, direct to retailers, leveraging internally and externally sourced products.
  • Coordinate with Del Monte’s procurement team to maximize on purchase needs for the business.
  • Grow Del Monte’s market share and brand recognition in assigned categories.
  • Drive profitability and sales growth by providing input and direction into the produce business plan, including business strategy, tactical plans, seasonal demand for production planning and metrics across Distribution Center, field grown and other Del Monte businesses as assigned.

Minimum Skills Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Economics or Agribusiness related field, from an accredited institution, and/or equivalent work experience.
  • Candidates MUST have at least 10 year’s prior experience in fresh produce sales and distribution with a focus in vegetables.
  • Proven experience with vegetable grower relations, new product development & management.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of transportation industry as related to produce, Fresh-Cut and Distribution Center operations.
  • Excellent sales, analytical, interpersonal and communication (i.e. oral and written) skills.
  • Flexibility to travel as needed.
