Responsibilities
Under direction of the Client Engineering Supervisor, the Client Engineering Systems Administrator will support the Information Technology client computing needs of all UCDH departments. The Systems Administrator 4 will lead the development, testing, deployment and administration a Modern Device Management solution for UCDH. The Systems Administrator 4 provides advanced level hardware, software, and network support to UCDH staff/faculty. Incumbent has responsibility for managing large, complex and/or unique projects that affect/impact multiple departments that may include testing/recommending new technologies. The Systems Administrator 4 will assist with implementing specialized departmental applications, and leading other technical support staff in projects. The Systems Administrator 4 will provide reporting and analytical support to Client Engineering and other UCDH customers.
The Systems Administrator 4 will apply advanced systems infrastructure concepts and campus, medical center or Office of the President or institutional objectives to resolve highly complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. The incumbent will select methods, techniques and evaluation criteria to obtain results. The Systems Administrator 4 will give presentations to associated team and other technical units. The incumbent will evaluate new technologies including performing moderate to complex cost/benefit analyses. The Systems Administrator 4 will lead a team of systems/infrastructure professionals.
Required Qualifications
  • General knowledge of other areas of IT. Thorough understanding of and experience with systems-related issues and actions that can be taken to improve or correct performance.
  • Experience with design, configuration, operation, repair, and tuning of technology systems.
  • Advanced experience writing and editing the most complex scripts used to perform system maintenance and administration.
  • Advanced knowledge of computer security best practices and policies including demonstrated experience securing most complex server-based software.
  • Advanced experience leading a team of IT professionals.
  • Advanced experience managing programs that include formulating strategies and administering policies, processes, and resources.
  • Advanced experience supporting Modern Device Management (MDM) systems in an enterprise environment (e.g. Microsoft, VMware).
  • Advanced experience supporting ancillary/complementary systems in an enterprise environment (e.g. Ground Control, JAMF).
  • Advanced experience working with users and computers in Windows Active Directory.
  • Knowledge and understanding of operation of Group Policy Objects in Active Directory.
  • Advanced experience in writing and executing highly complex software and scripts to support systems management, log analysis and other system administration duties for multiple, highly integrated systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of computer security best practices and policies including demonstrated experience securing most complex server-based software.
  • Advanced experience supporting Windows and or Macintosh clients in an enterprise environment of 1000 or more.
  • Must possess working knowledge of hardware, software and desktop applications as it relates to desktops, laptops, thin clients, mobile devices, printers, multi-function devices, scanners, Windows-on-Wheels carts (WOW).
  • Advanced experience supporting IT systems in an enterprise environment consisting of 1000 or more customers.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced experience managing multiple information technology projects (within the healthcare industry is highly preferred).
  • Advanced experience supporting local information technology hardware and software, including mobile devices and wireless networking.
  • Advanced experience supporting, maintaining and deploying Office 365.
  • Demonstrated skills to plan, design, write, edit, maintain, use and teach complex technical documentation and instructions for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated skills to perform document and manage problem resolution, escalation and notification policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills for interactions with vendors, faculty, staff, students and affiliates.
  • Demonstrated experience assimilating complex technical concepts, terms and material, and accurately explaining this material to non-technical clients in a manner conducive to their learning and understanding the material.
  • Knowledge of IP networking and DNS Ability to troubleshoot DNS problems.
  • Experience with DHCP, PPP and Ethernet.
