Network Support Technician

We are seeking a Network Support Technician to become an integral part of our team! In this role, you should be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of networking concepts, including a well-developed knowledge to troubleshoot applications, network devices (hardware/software), in addition to other services (Messaging, WiFi, Video, Collaboration, Web Apps, etc.).

You will be exposed to a wide variety of challenging learning environments and will contribute to the success of the company while gaining valuable experience. Solus is a small company which allows for a great deal of flexibility in the opportunities available to our employees.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist callers with requests for information technology services, repair or support requests
  • Support issues related to software, hardware, email, network access, etc
  • Remote support of customers using excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Onsite support at customer location (reliable automobile, insurance and valid driver's license required - Driving Record will be checked)
  • Ability to use methodical troubleshooting skills
  • Clearly and completely document user calls, issue resolution, and related processes and procedures
  • Assist in the build and design of Microsoft-based server systems and networks
  • Support the implementation of server-desktop environments using Active Directory
  • Configuration and setup of desktops and network devices
  • Perform routine network maintenance
  • Collaborate with team members on projects and issues
  • Assist in deploying Linux-based VoIP telephony systems, Cisco and Polycom IP phones
  • Ability to adapt and apply industry best practice to all projects
  • Assist in maintaining required technical documentation

Qualifications:

  • 2 years of prior experience in IT support
  • Bachelor's or Associates Degree in Computer science, engineering or a related discipline preferred
  • MCSA, MCP or RHCSA certification - preferred
  • A certification - preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft networking and applications (e.g. Active Directory, Exchange, SQL, Terminal Services)
  • Experience configuring and working with Firewalls, VPNs, and TCP/IP networking
  • Enterprise Linux support (RHEL etc.) with exposure to shell scripting (bash, Perl) is a plus
  • Experience with ConnectWise is a plus
  • Reliable insured vehicle and a valid Driver's License are required for this position
  • Excellent Communication skills
  • Outstanding English language written and verbal communication skills and comprehension
  • Ability to communicate technical issues in non-technical terms
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills
  • Proven ability to meet critical deadlines
  • Able to support shift schedules/rotation as required to meet business needs
