Medical Scheduler


  • Immediately greets customers upon arrival
  • Enter patient demographic information into the computer system
  • Schedules appointments for patients within established clinic guidelines
  • Ensure physician orders are carried out
  • Knowledge of insurance plans and procedures
  • Professionally answers telephone calls within established guidelines; Retrieve / return messages left on assigned telephone extension in a timely manner
  • Informs Supervisor of both routine and non-routine issues involving scheduling
  • Attends and participates in in-service training programs
  • Maintains confidentiality in all matters related to the patient and the organization
  • Maintains personal composure and integrity under stressful conditions
  • Maintain physician’s schedule as directed by the Supervisor and Physician
  • Performs related duties

  • Principles, practices and procedures of medical reception
  • Medical scheduling record keeping requirements
  • Directing patients and visitors to the appropriate clinic areas
  • Laws mandating patient information confidentiality
  • Medical terminology


  • Operation of personal computers using a Windows operating system
  • Routine medical reception tasks
  • Exhibiting excellent telephone and interpersonal skills
  • Information gathering and data input
  • Soliciting sensitive information from patients and other responsible parties
  • Cooperation with the Supervisor, physicians, and other coworkers
  • Remaining calm with patients and other parties under stressful conditions
