Meals on Wheels People enriches the lives of seniors and assists them in maintaining independence by providing nutritious food, human connections and social support. With the help of more than 5,300 volunteers, our nonprofit organization serves over 5,000 meals daily and more than 1.2 million meals each year across Multnomah, Washington, and Clark Counties. General Summary
Conduct eligibility screening for potential participants. Input information into the client database for Meals on Wheels participants in Multnomah, Washington and Clark County. Serve as liaison between contract partners, clients and staff to ensure accurate authorization and delivery of services. Reception duties as assigned.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
  • Serve as a liaison between referring partners, contract partners, clients and staff
o Notify appropriate Dining Center of Meals on Wheels new starts and changes in a timely manner
o Communicate with case managers, clients and staff regarding status of authorizations and potential disruption in services
o Work with Client Services staff to assure eligibility of Meals on Wheels clients
  • Handle client concerns and comments in a constructive, professional, and helpful manner
  • Ensure integrity of data in client data management system, update client information as needed and correct inaccurate information as necessary
  • Coordination of volunteer projects and voucher processing
  • Receptionist duties may include:
o Refer callers to appropriate staff
o Greet walk-in visitors in a professional, courteous manner
o Maintain a professional appearance of the reception area
o Update outgoing messages as needed
  • Word processing, data entry, and other clerical duties as assigned by supervisor
  • Other duties as assigned

Education & Knowledge
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in business administration, or related field or equivalent work experience a plus
  • Knowledge of senior nutrition eligibility requirements preferred

Skills, Abilities & Experience
  • Minimum two year experience in office environment
  • Bilingual/Bicultural English/Spanish, Vietnamese, Russian, Asian or African languages preferred
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, computer applications and data entry
  • Experience as a telephone receptionist, using a multi-line system
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and security of sensitive information
  • Strong oral and written communications skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and team skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy of information

  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, 10 key and phone
  • Sitting for extended periods of time
  • Minimal reaching, bending and stooping
