- Serves as the Chief, Branch of Geospatial Support. Exercises supervisory and personnel management responsibilities in managing the Office.
- Advises the office of trust services at all levels on program development, analysis and evaluations pertaining to but not limited to Land Titles and Records GIS data management.
- Provides guidance, direction, and coordination during the development of Bureau standards for GIS, and may represents the Bureau in the development of DOI standards which are drafted by the Federal Geographic Data Committee.
- May represent supervisor on National GIS Boards by formulating business strategies for development of the enterprise-wide GIS.
- Perform or oversee applied research that leads to the development and implementation of new methods, procedures, techniques, and applications of state-of-the art mapping and scientific systems and geospatial data.
- Develop agreements to insure an integrated effort: create, maintain and secure data; establish database standards and submission requirements; provide GIS support to critical business functions; and to identify regional priorities.
- Lead on developing a GIS Workforce Plan in collaboration with trust services Workforce and Planning Office, to address gaps and secession planning across all levels of the Bureau.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS FOR GS-1370:
Degree: cartography or a major that included or was supplemented by at least 30 semester hours in cartography and/or directly related science, and related mathematics. Such course work includes, but is not limited to, cartography, astronomy, geodesy, photogrammetry, physical and geological oceanography, computer science, land surveying, geophysics, physical geography, and remote sensing. The 30 semester hours must have included at least 6, but no more than 15, semester hours of college level, non-business mathematics or statistics (i.e., college level algebra, trigonometry, calculus, or scientific mathematics or statistics requiring equivalent college-level courses as prerequisites.
Combination of education and experience-courses equivalent to a major in cartography, or a major that included or was supplemented by at least 30 semester hours in cartography, and/or directly related science, and related mathematics, as shown in A above plus appropriate experience or additional education.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: (OPM Operating Manual, Qualification Standards for Professional and Scientific Positions, and Individual Occupational Requirements for GS-0150: Geography Series).
BASIC REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL GRADES:
1. Degree: geography; or related physical or social science such as geology, meteorology, economics, statistics, sociology, anthropology, political science, history, cartography, computer science, urban studies, or planning that included at least 24 semester hours in geography or related fields.
2. Combination of education and experience: courses equivalent to a major in geography, or a related field that included at least 24 semester hours in geography or related fields, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: In addition to meeting the basic entry level qualification requirements, applicants must have the following:
GS-13: I meet the basic requirement and I have at least one year of specialized experience or the equivalent, comparable to at least the GS-12 in the Federal Service (obtained in either the public or private sector). Specialized experience may include, but are not limited to experience as a geographer, or cartographer, successfully integrating and applying Geographic Information System (GIS) applications to meet the divisions related objectives; subject matter expert developing organizational programs to support GIS analysis; using and displaying data in order to present well organized reports to management arid other professionals; manage multiple GIS complex projects, solving problems, making decisions and interacting collaboratively with professionals.
