The Planning and Development department is seeking to fill a Customer Service II position. This position will provide a wide variety of general customer services and clerical tasks in support of the Planning and Development department.
Incumbent will respond to customer complaints and inquiries in a timely and efficient manner. The selected candidate will: answer telephone and face-to-face inquiries from customers regarding permit application and processing; receive, stamp and tag incoming plans for review and prepare plans for customer pick up; monitor the status of permit applications and follow-up as needed to assist customers with various permit issues; process payments for permits and registrations; respond to requests for parkway related permits and registrations; process payments and reconcile daily; promote departmental goals; ensure consistency and quality of customer service; consistently perform daily tasks, which requires strict schedule adherence, while allowing schedule flexibility to meet business needs.
Daily tasks are repetitive and require long periods of sitting
in a cubicle area. The selected candidate must be able to research
addresses to determine if prior approvals are required and explain
applicable policies and procedures. This position will have heavy
telephone and public contact.
Preferred candidates will possess the following:
Higher levels of education
Relevant customer service experience as it relates to the vacancy
Microsoft Word and Excel computer skills
Bilingual skills: English/Spanish desirable
Cash and credit card handling experience
Knowledge of the City Ordinance
Experience with the following: GIS, Accela Automation, FAMS.
High School Diploma or GED PLUS two (2) years of responsible customer service experience.
